Over 50 people were stranded in Himachal Pradesh s Mandi district following a cloudburst and have been rescued by the NDRF, officials said on Friday. The cloudburst took place in Shehnu Gouni village on Thursday and also triggered a landslide that blocked roads at many places.
As the state is reeling under the monsoon fury, there are emerging concerns that such rains could become a common phenomenon in the years to come. Though there are many factors behind these developments, some of them are pretty common and have been ignored by authorities for so long.
The National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) and the Army along with police and State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) resumed rescue operations at Summerhill around 6 am, Deputy Commissioner of Shimla Aditya Negi told PTI. The rescue operations were suspended on Monday night following heavy rainfall.
Himachal Pradesh University has also cancelled all the ongoing examinations of Post Graduate classes including B. Ed. exams scheduled on 14th August only.
