ENDERLIN, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – Day 4 of the Class B district 7 Legion baseball tournament came to a close as LaMoure comes away with the title.
The first game of the day started at 4pm, and saw a battle of one loss teams, Lisbon against Oakes. Lisbon would jump out to a 4-0 lead by scoring 1 in the first, 2 in the second, and 1 in the third. However the Oakes bats would come alive in the home half of the third inning as they would score 4 runs in the inning. Two of which came from a 2-run home run from left fielder Steele Hansen, and then a solo home run compliments of Alex Nelson.

OAKES, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – Oakes didn’t waste anytime getting back in the win column as they defeated Ellendale 15-0 in three innings. The game lasted for a total of 57 minutes as Oakes scored a total of 11 runs in the second inning.
Everyone in the starting lineup scored for Oakes and seven of the nine batters got hits. Right-fielder Fletcher Willprecht got four RBI (13) and is now tied for the team lead with second baseman Conor Schall who got one himself in this game. Shortstop Garret Meehl, third baseman Howie Neustel, left-fielder Steele Hansen, catcher Joey Heim, and center-fielder Alex Nelson each had two RBI as well. Designated hitter David Schmitz and first baseman Jaidy Gebhardt were both beaned twice in their two plate appearances with Gebhardt being awarded an RBI for his HBP in the second inning.
LaMoure, ND (NewsDakota.com) – LaMoure Post 19 gets the better half of the pitchers duel as they get a walk-off win in the bottom of the seventh inning to pick up the victory.
Oakes struck first in the ball game as Garret Meehl got on base the hard way as he was hit by a pitch from the LaMoure starter. Meehl wouldn’t spend too much time over at first as he would swipe second base to put himself in scoring position. With 2 out, Howie Neustel delivered an RBI double into the right field gap to brings in the games first run.
It was a promising start for Oakes as they went up 5-0 after four innings, but their relief pitching and defensive mistakes cost Oakes in 6-5 loss against Lisbon.
Right-handed pitcher Howie Neustel got the start and had a solid four innings giving up just two walks, three hits and no runs with three strikeouts. To add to it, the offense got off to a hot start with an RBI single by left-fielder Steele Hansen in the first inning. They added three more runs to their lead in the third with RBI singles by center-fielder Fletcher Willprecht and Hansen once again. Hansen came home after a Lisbon error. Shortstop Garret Meehl got the final Oakes run of the game in the fourth inning with an RBI double.
