WADESBORO Anson County Board of Education members gathered for a special meeting on Feb. 9 to discuss the outline of students returning to in-person classes in March.
The board previously voted to bring students back to schools starting on March 1, but this special meeting allowed each board member to discuss their ideas and concern for how an in-person return would look. The board came to the agreement of bringing back all students in a two cohort Plan B.
Superintendent Howard McLean was instructed to return to the board on Feb. 22 with a detailed description of the return. He will go over the plan during the regular meeting and if any tweaks need to me made, the board will address is at the meeting.
WADESBORO The Anson County School Board announced the postponement of a re-entry plan for in-person schooling through Feb. 26 during the board’s monthly meeting on Jan. 25.
Students were set to return to in-person learning two weeks after winter break, but the district pushed back that plan until at least the end of January due to the alarming rise of COVID-19 cases in the county.
The board is again pushing back the start date of Plan B as cases continuously climb. Virtual learning will continue through Feb. 26 with a potential start date of March 1.
Dr. George Truman put in motion the postponement of in-person learning, saying it would allow more time for vaccines to be administered to faculty and staff.
WADESBORO The Anson County School District this week announced that it would be returning to virtual learning for all students until at least Jan. 19.
The district first posted an announcement on Facebook saying just Wadesboro Primary School would move to virtual learning beginning on Dec. 14 “due to personnel concerns and staff and student safety.”
One day later, the district said all schools will run completely virtual starting the week of Dec. 14. Students will observe the Christmas and New Year’s holidays from Dec. 21 through Jan. 1.
During the school board meeting on Dec. 14, Superintendent Howard McLean advised the board to remain virtual until Jan. 19. This way, students and staff can be in quarantine after the holiday season before returning to a in-person cohort schedule.
