Well, first of all, thank you for having me here on this show, and thank you also to cspan for the great Public Service work that you do and have done for decades. Issues before the fcc, we have a lot of them. Issues are diverse because in many ways the fcc oversees the digital economy, the information economy which by some measures accounts for as much as onesixth of the economy itself. I think there are a few things we have going on of particular interest though. One of those is wireless communications. And you can look around at the proliferation of phones, and thats probably no surprise be that its an area of real interest. But with you also have to consider some of the numbers. We now have more Wireless Phones in this country than we have people. One in three American Adults now has a tablet com
Choice to do more ourselves. If we take the ee rate program and revamp it, rebooted, refocus it, we can do a lot to bring broadband to schools across the country. You have put a lot on the table. Joining our conversation is Communications Daily executive Senior Editor howard buskirk. Issuesmentioned to big that there is a lot of fcc watchers believing will dominate the commission. The first is the incentive option. How far along do you think planning is, what other pressure points, one of the concerns about the option Going Forward . In 2014 was to do one but it looks like it could be difficult. I will say for starters that i am confident that i can be ready to do these auctions in 2014. I have confidence in the agencys ability to do so too. When you look at the record that we have when it comes to incentive auctions and auction policy generally, it is tremendous. About two decades, the fcc has had a story to hold spectrum auctions. We have helped 80 auctions. We have issued more than

federal communications commission with democratic commissioner mignon clyburn. host: we are pleased to welcome back to the communicators, commissioner mignon clyburn of the fcc. commissioner clyburn, in a recent speech, you said that you were going to be super vigilant of the wireless industry. what did you mean by super vigilant? guest: i meant that what is important is the consumer experience. what is important is the marketplace, so those who speak two things to ensure that the competitors, that is the competitive marketplace, that the competitors in the market, that it is a healthy experience and the consumers are getting what they paid for and beating their expectations. so when i say super diligent i mean that i am the substitute often for a competition when it is not as intense or robust as we would like and i am the consumers eyes and ears that if there is a problem then we are the cop on the beat to be there. host: are you satisfied with how the wireless indu
