John Wray Steggall Sr.

John Wray Steggall Sr. died at home of natural causes at the age of 86 under the care of his devoted wife Gratia, eldest son John Jr., grandson Patrick and caregiver Claudette. Anyone who knew John, whether encountering him for the first time or the hundredth time, enjoyed his good-natured sense of humor.
John was born on Aug. 31, 1934, in Kansas City, Mo. He was the first child of Howard Bate Steggall and Helen Hurd Mitchell. His sister Elizabeth joined the family a few years later. John spent his childhood in Pittsburg, Pa., and Birmingham, Mich., where he attended Cranbrook School.
