One of Chemung County s major manufacturers plans to invest millions of dollars in upgrades to its Horseheads plant as part of a move expected to create new jobs in the area.
Hardinge Inc., which provides advanced metal-cutting and material-cutting tool solutions and accessories to an international market, plans to shift the manufacturing of its milling and turning machining center solutions from a Taiwan plant to its Horseheads facility.
Hardinge will now manufacture the Bridgeport series of vertical machining centers and its TALENT Series of turning products in Horseheads, which has been a major production site for the company since the 1930s.
