Tom Plaskett, the former American Airlines executive who helped create the carrier’s frequent flier program, died last week at the age of 77, his family said.
Plaskett was American’s senior vice president of marketing before leaving to take the CEO job at Houston-based Continental Airlines, and he later led the failing Pan American Airways through its last days as an independent carrier. He died June 24 of natural causes, his daughter Kimberly Plaskett said.
