Emergency Rental Assistance Program Stanislaus County will soon receive funds through an Emergency Rental Assistance Program (ERAP) supported by the U.S. Department of the Treasury. The Emergency Rental Assistance program makes available $25 billion to assist households unable to pay rent and utilities due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The funds are provided directly to States, U.S. Territories, local governments, and Indian tribes. Government agencies must use these funds to provide assistance to eligible households through rental assistance programs. According to information on the Stanislaus County website, the Stanislaus region will be receiving a combined amount of roughly $16,400,000 for distribution to those who are eligible and can demonstrate a need. Harder appointed to House Appropriations Committee Powerful committee responsible for all funding legislation Rep. Josh Harder will serve on the House Appropriations Committee during his second term in Congress. Heading into his second term as District 10’s representative, Congressman Josh Harder will serve on one of the most powerful House committees after being appointed by his colleagues last week.  Harder’s fellow representatives on the House Steering and Policy Committee appointed him to the House Appropriations Committee on Dec. 18, making the Turlock native the first Democratic member of Congress from the Central Valley to serve there in almost 50 years. According to a release from Harder’s office, the Congressman plans on using his new role to advocate for more federal support for water infrastructure, healthcare, agriculture and other Valley priorities.

Scott Applewhite As has been covered here at RedState, the House Democrat Caucus is in the process of assigning members to Committee seats, a process that is carried out by the House Steering Committee.  The Democrat Party loves to spend money, so the Committees that have the most influence over spending tend to be highly sought after assignments.  In the House, that generally means the Appropriations, Ways and Means, and the Energy and Commerce Committees. My colleague Streiff covered the story that broke last Friday night about AOC expecting to get a seat on the Energy and Commerce Committee but losing her bid to another New Yorker who made a late bid for the same seat, Rep.
