REDMOND, WA Within the next couple of weeks, more than half of U.S. adults will have received at least one shot of a coronavirus vaccine, White House officials said this week. But that figure obscures wide variations in vaccination rates among states and even wider variations among local communities.
As of April 8, 28 percent of Washington residents 18 and over have been fully vaccinated, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. The state ranks 19th nationwide by that metric.
In King County, about 27 percent of people 18 and older and 69 percent of people 65 and older have been fully vaccinated as of April 8, according to CDC data.

As of April 8, 25 percent of Illinois residents 18 and over have been fully vaccinated, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. The state ranks 35th nationwide by that metric.
In Cook County, about 23 percent of people 18 and older and 47 percent of people 65 and older have been fully vaccinated as of April 8, according to CDC data.

In Middlesex County, about 37 percent of people 18 and older and 79 percent of people 65 and older have been fully vaccinated as of April 8, according to CDC data.
