The House voted down a measure seeking to censure Rep. Rashida Tlaib (D-MI), dealing a blow to conservative Republicans who sought to punish the Michigan Democrat over accusations of antisemitic behavior related to comments she made about Israel last month.
Rep. George Santos (R-NY) has avoided expulsion from his seat in Congress after the House rejected a motion to remove him from the lower chamber, citing the ongoing ethics investigation into the embroiled New York freshman.
Rep. Chip Roy (R-TX), one of the Republicans who voted to table the measure, explained his vote in a statement on Thursday, arguing the resolution itself was “deeply flawed” by making “legally and factually unverified claims, including the claim of leading an 'insurrection.'"
The Republican Accountability Project announced the ad campaign on Wednesday targeting Johnson over his role in supporting a lawsuit to overturn President Joe Biden’s win over former President Donald Trump as well as his vote not to certify results in two states.
These include allegations that Santos “engaged in unlawful activity” when he lied about his personal and professional experience on the campaign trail and failed to disclose required financial reports, according to the statement.
