witness for the republicans in the house judiciary committee. many credentials. thanks for being on the beat. what do you think is the president s best defense? well, look i don t think these hearings changed anybody s minds. i fully expect the house to impeach the president on largely a party line vote. and i fully expect him to be acquitted in the senate on largely a party line vote. if people went into this assuming the president was clearly undermining the nations interest for the sole purpose of gaining dirt on a political rival, then your views have been strengthened. but the president is going to sit there and say i get to set foreign policy, i get to decide who my emissaries are. i had a legitimate reason to have a more suspicious view of the ukrainians based on things i
behind the impeachment, get behind a vote that would lead to articles of impeachment, but as you said, republicans have remained really strong and solid behind the president. so we ll have to see how those messages are landing on the ears of the american people. hav phil, you and i have talked many times on this forecast about the president s love for the kind of dated and quaint phrase, central casting from old hollywood. with that in mind, what do you think the white house truly makes of some of the testimony this week and the people giving it?of well, the white house should be very concerned about the testimony that came out this week, and most especially fiona hill who provided a quota to extraordinary weeks of testimony. her biography which you got into the at the top of the show at 11:00 is compelling and important. this is a woman who grew up in england, the daughter of a coal miner.
