that what that costs governors across this country. there are all kinds of questions i d like to see in that cbo score, so until that vote is scheduled, she doesn t have the votes, and right now i think all of us have to admit she s got her work to do, she s still short. matt, i know you re on your way down here, but the cbo did come out with its estimates that s a leak, bob. it s a leak. it s a leak, and the cbo has not released it official report jon: and that still includes ten years of taxes and only six years of benefits, right? well, no. well, 20 years is a trillion dollar savings. if you did nothing else without this bill it d cost the federal government a trillion dollars to handle health care the way it is right now. jon: bob, i love talking to you, but we ve got to say good-bye. thank you both. okay, we ll see you. jane: a scene straight out of a hollywood movie.
monday in ohio. so i was trying to get these answers to specific questions not only about process, but about the substance. jon: yeah. the process still would involve that, potentially that deemed pass thing in the house, right? well, yes. and i asked about that, the president said when the house votes once, it will be a vote for health care reform or against health care reform. so essentially saying he s okay with the house speaker considering or using this deem and pass rule that would make the senate health care bill law even though house democrats and house lawmakers wouldn t be voting on the senate bill with. so, you know, he says he doesn t want to talk about process, he doesn t think it s about process, but in washington now it s about process. jon: well, and we were also promised this would be a very transparent administration, and this bill in particular would be transparent. he talked about that with you. i want to play a clip of that and then get your reaction.
this notion that this has been not transparent, that people don t know what s in the will, everybody knows what s in the bill. i sat for seven hours you told me the special deals i just told you is connecticut in? connecticut what are you specifically referring to? the $100 million for the hospital? is montana in for the asbestos program? is you know, listen, there are people, this is real money. absolutely. people are worried about this stuff. and as i said before this, the final provisions are going to be posted for, many days this thing passes. jon: but it isn t posted yet. isn t that correct, bret? we just got the cbo score. no, it s not posted yet. it should be posted pretty soon if they re going to have a vote before noon on sunday, and we ll see exactly, and we re going to
why is the president insistent on pressing forward? have well, because there s 33, 35 million people without health insurance, and as we know one quarter of the people in california without health insurance. this is not something that you put aside for political reasons. you ve got to go forward. sometimes it takes more courage, and sometimes you ve got to fly in the face of something that looks unpopular on its face. the fact of the matter is they will have the votes in the house to do it, and they did have 60 votes in the senate. you don t take a look at a bill just because something s changed after the fact and say, well, now it doesn t have 60 votes in the senate, it had 60 votes. jon: matt, will they have enough votes in the house? we don t have an official cbo score, we have a leak yes, we do. we don t have a scheduled house vote, we have assurances from democratic staffers that the vote will be on sunday. those are two big milestones. i want to see this cbo score, the an
his international trip by three days to give them more time which it seems like they are not going to be able to take advantage of. based on the timetables democratic leaders have laid forth. once they have the final language, they will post on the house rules committee webpage. that s the one that matters. the rules committee. there are lots of pages that purport to have a cbo report. once it s posted, then a 72-hour clock starts that could open a window for a vote. but as it stands right now, it hasn t been posted and 72 hours gets us to noon sunday. the president is supposed to be leaving sunday overseas. jane: let us know if you hear anything else. and the moment all this is posted we ll let everybody else know. reporter: fun, fun, fun. jon: an american-born radical cleric is back in the headlines.
