begins. jenna: right now we are just minutes away from what is supposed to be a house ethics hearing for a congressman charlie rangel. the new york democrat is scheduled to go before a bi-partisan house panel. now we are hearing one new york station local news station here is reporting that rangel has actually struck a deal. that would avoid going before what we re calling a hearing at this time. on the phone now from capitol hill our senior producer for the house of representatives, knows all the goings on on capitol hill. tell us about any validity of this report that there might have been a deal already struck. i would use extreme caution. even if there were a settlement this would have to go before the special committee which they ve set up today and then possibly be approved by the ethics committee and then the entire house. so even if there is some sort of an arrangement it has a lot of channels it still has to go
