On its face, Tennessee Democrats seemed favorable to the bill, though they admitted they’d prefer more substantial fixes. Some Democrats have also taken issue with a portion that explains that a teacher must "be viewpoint neutral on political topics, such as gun rights, gun violence, and the Second Amendment to the United States Constitution."
Coming in committee next week, lawmakers are set to tackle subjects including in-school firearm education, enforcing state sovereignty, a parental bill of rights and more.
