When the Governor of Imo State, Hope Uzodimma, came out from a closed-door meeting with the President, Major General Muhammadu Buhari (retd.), a fortnight ago, he told State House correspondents that his major discussion with Buhari centred around his request for presidential intervention in the ecological challenges faced by the good people of the state. He said the state needed N75bn to remedy 360 identified erosion sites.
According to the governor, the oil-rich South-East state can only address the problem through constructive partnership with the federal government, through the Ecological Fund Office, and development partners. Hence, he let the world know that his visit to the President was successful, because Buhari “…in his wisdom, has promised to immediately get in touch with the ecological office to remedy the situation.”
