Karateka Hirudini excels at A/L examination Daily News (via HT Media Ltd.)
Twenty-year-old Hirudini Dassanayake got through her GCE (A/L) examination, obtaining three ‘A’ passes in Biology, Physics and Chemistry, and was ranked 12th in the District Rankings.
Hirudini, who is an outstanding Karateka, started competing in the sport in 2011 under the coaching of Sensei Rohitha Seneviratne.
She went up on the ladder of success from the year 2012 onwards and her first national meet was the National Karate Championship organised by the Karate do Federation in 2012, where she secured second place in Kathe.
In 2015 and 2016, she won first place in the same meet organised by the same Federation and in 2017, she secured second place. in 2018, she was placed first at the National Games.
