reports and information from the prior investigations have shown secretary clinton was not personally involved in. assessing the security for every embassy and every outpost that we had within the state department. ultimately she is responsible, but she s not the decision maker. there is a layer of management in between whose job it is to take these requests for additional security and to act on them. the suggestion or the implication that chairman gowdy is trying to make that she s somehow personally responsible for the fact that they didn t have the security measures in place that they had asked for is it s just an attempt to really smear her. when in fact many republicans voted to cut funding for state department to increase security at some of the embassies and some of the outposts. give us a preview of what you expect from your republican counterparts on the committee, what you think they will ask hillary clinton on thursday and what do you plan to ask?

these four americans lost their lives. but i think that that s a very recent development in terms of the committee. chairman gowdy says that the committee s interviewed 50 witnesses. secretary clinton being just one of them. and he says the committee plans to call about 20 more witnesses. what s your reaction to that? what more do you think we re going to hear that we have not heard? well, that s a great question. because when i signed up to serve on the benghazi committee, i read that eight different reports that were generated by both senate and house intelligence committees, armed services committee, and it became pretty clear to me that there was consensus about what happened that evening. i wasn t really sure what exactly the select committee would find that was in addition to what had already been generated. what i m finding is after 17 long months, which is, by the way, the longest running select committee investigation, longer than water gate or pearl harbor
