‘Finally some good news’ for shuttered bars as NC lawmakers prepare to give them COVID relief
The legislature may give the bar owners and other businesses prorated costs or credit for beer, wine and liquor permits they couldn’t use.

The state legislature plans to pass laws to help bar owners who have been mostly or entirely out of business since the COVID-19 crisis led to their shutdown 10 months ago, state Rep. Tim Moffitt said last week.
“We want to provide direct relief to these small businesses until restrictions on their operations are lifted,” Moffitt said. The Republican from Henderson County in the North Carolina mountains is the recently appointed chairman of the state House Alcoholic Beverage Control Committee.
