BEATTY, Ore. (AP) - A wildfire burning in south central Oregon has destroyed two structures, officials said.
The Herald and News reported Monday that firefighters had made significant progress on the Ponina Fire, which was reported Sunday afternoon. It was burning Monday northeast of Klamath Falls near Beatty.
As of Monday morning, the fire was estimated at 1,400 acres and 10% containment. The fire’s cause is under investigation.

A local Type 3 Incident Management Team took over management of the Ponina Fire Monday.
On Sunday, firefighters were assisted by two air tankers that came up from California, which proved helpful to beating back the blaze. Two local interagency Hotshot Crews started work on the fire Monday and additional resources were on the way.

BEATTY, Ore. Forestry officials say that evacuation levels have been lowered north of Beatty as fire crews work to contain the Ponina Fire, though two structures have been destroyed.
Firefighters made great progress overnight on the Ponina Fire, officials said, raising containment to 10 percent. The fire is now estimated at 1,400 acres.
The fire was first reported around 2:30 p.m. on Sunday. After an initial response from firefighters, a local Type 3 Incident Management Team took over control of efforts on Monday morning.
