thanks very much for coming in. you got to be concerned, even though there s no great desire there s no desire at all, for a real confrontation between the u.s. and iran off the coast of yemen. it s possible. it s certainly possible and who knows what kind of hotheads you might have on some of the iranian ships and whether they may choose this as an opportunity to strike a blow at the great satan. hard to tell. we re here to have the back of our gulf and other allies in the region as well as to try to have a show of us force. there are u.n. resolutions that prohibit iran from arming the houthis nonetheless they have been. the iranians deny and say they re only sending in humanitarian aid to the houthis and to others in yemen. they deny they re providing weapons. i don t believe it and i think there s credible evidence that they have been providing weapons. that s not the same to say they ve been controlling the houthis all along and you can easily i think overstate the
come on. the weather channel would call that a tie. well, anyone but the weather channel i guess would call that a tie. elizabeth warren is at 49.2 degrees. president obama is at 47.6 degrees. and so is senator kirsten gillibrand. ted cruz comes in at 46.8 degrees. chris christie is also on the cover of new york magazine this week in an article about the happy hothead. joining me now, the author of that new new york magazine piece, benjamin wallace wells, contributing editor for new york witt mrngz and nick acachella, editor and publisher of politifacts new jersey. benjamin wallace wells, what about this? what did you call him? the happy hothead. i didn t know hotheads were happy. well, this one certainly is. you know, this has been an interesting campaign to watch. the piece that i did is sort of an observational study of him on

off the road. in my analogy, the president should take the steering wheel firmly in hand and drive the car toward the destination where most maps show we need to be heading, namely, a balanced program in cuts in social security and medicare and modest increases in revenue. instead, obama has chosen to be co-dependent as psychologists describe those who foster the destructive behavior of others rather than stepping up to leadership. since being re-elected, he has triple dared the gop hotheads. an interesting analysis of saying it s the republicans problem they keep screwing around with this. they seem to love the government shutdowns, the fiscal cliffs, all this stuff, debt ceilings. they love this stuff because it gives them leverage, but the president, according to david ignatius, again, i think a very moderate progressive, says the president has got to grab the steering wheel. can he grab the steering wheel and say, okay, i ll do some of these things if you will do other things, we
establishment seal of approval to a lot of nonsense, and then he ends up getting bit in the backside because of it. i think a lot of us would say throughout the campaign that he should not do that for that very reason. that it does come back to bite you. and to be quite honest with you, this happens on both sides. the focus is on the gop hotheads who say this stuff, and that becomes the narrative for every republican in the country. that s not true. that is not the fact. the fact is though, to a point that was raised earlier, there are those leaders in the party right now, and my expectation is they need to emerge. they need to emerge to really begin to right the course of this party and the direction it s going. period. one big difference in this argument for symmetry, which i know is very nonpartisan and you may have a point but i don t think it s the right one, the fact is that this election proved that the arguments made on the center left and to some
