Robust growth of new vehicle sales beats expectations

New vehicle sales rose 24.1 percent from last year to 41,133 units last month, marking the best September sales in about 16 years, as commercial vehicle demand grew during the COVID-19 pandemic, data from the Motor Vehicles Office showed. According to data compiled by the country’s Motor Vehicles Office, car sales in Taiwan in the first four months of this year showed tremendous momentum, totaling 159,476 units, which is up 18 percent from the same period last year.
