Sign Up Perthshire chefs are among six finalists from across Scotland in this year’s Andrew Fairlie scholarship. Zdenka Tomova, 26, and Peter Meechan, 24, both of The Strathearn at Gleneagles Hotel, alongside 28-year-old Ryan McCutcheon of Achray House Hotel in Crieff will be representing the region. Elsewhere in Courier Country, Spud Henderson, 31 of @ 16 West End in Anstruther, Fife has also made the top six. The other finalists are Amy Stephenson of Wester Ross and Josh Wilkinson of the Isle of Eriska.

A Tayside woman has described the “invaluable” support she received from a mentor when setting up a drinks company. Ruth Jones started developing her business after she was furloughed from her job as a nightclub manager in Aberdeen. The 32-year-old from Auchterhouse, by Dundee, was accepted onto Business Women Scotland’s Mentoring Programme last year. She was paired with David Cochrane, chief executive of Hospitality Industry Trust Scotland. Constructive criticism and contacts Ms Jones praised the impact the experienced businessman had as she developed Twisted Sisters Drinks.
