SAUGUS, MA It s not yet closing time for Kowloon Restaurant, representatives of the Route 1 landmark reassured customers Thursday night. An appearance by members of the Kowloon team at a Saugus Planning Board meeting turned some heads, as the eventual closure and redevelopment of the property was announced.
But that isn t happening for some time. According to a statement on Kowloon s Facebook page, the restaurant is only planning for the future, which is years, not months, away. The process to get the local boards to do their due diligence and approve any project is not an overnight process, the statement continued. So our family is just getting some preliminary legwork started.

Roux, who had been unwell for a while, died on 4 January. He and his late brother Michel Roux made history when they opened French fine dining restaurant Le Gavroche in London in 1967, which kick started a culinary revolution.
Roux was born on the 8 October 1935 in Semur-en-Brionnais, Saône-et-Loire. After leaving school at 14, he trained as a chef. His godfather was working as a chef for the Duchess of Windsor, and arranged for Roux, aged 18, to be employed by Nancy Astor.
