Mum trying to stay strong for son battling stage four Covid-19

JOHOR BARU: News about government hospitals reaching their maximum capacity is extremely worrying, especially for a mother whose son is being treated for stage four Covid-19 at the Hospital Sultanah Aminah (HSA) intensive care unit (ICU) here. Mixed rice stall owner Rozita Ramli said her family was put through an anxious waiting period after finding out that her 35-year-old son Mohd Izuan Rosmi ( pic) was positive for Covid-19 on May 2. “Initially, he had a fever and was told that he had dengue after a check-up at HSA. ‘’The hospital gave some medication and told him to go home. As his condition worsened, we took him to a private hospital and he tested positive for Covid-19, ’’ she said.

Don t let our sacrifices be a waste of our efforts

MY housemanship ends this month and I was supposed to go on annual leave for about a month before I continue serving as a medical officer. However, in view of the rising cases of Covid-19, my colleagues and I have to cut short our leave and continue working. As a doctor, this is our call and duty, especially when the people need us the most. I have reduced the number of times I go home, and even did not return home when I was placed in Hospital Permai to treat Covid-19 patients as I did not want to risk transmitting the virus to my parents.
