a security council resolution to let more aid in has been delayed since monday as member states try to work out a draft that the united states won t veto. the us says it wants to make sure israel still has control over goods moving into gaza, to ensure it doesn t fall into the wrong hands. 0ur united nations correspondent nada tawfik has the latest from new york. i heard from one diplomat that they have made more progress today than they have all week and that they are narrowing the gaps. what we have received is the latest draft resolution and it is different in key aspects from the last proposal. instead of calling for a suspension of hostility, the draft now calls for urgent steps to immediately allow safe and unhindered humanitarian access with creating conditions for a sustainable cessation of hostilities. the wording there, toned down from the original draft. the resolution on the table now also appoints a senior humanitarian and reconstruction co ordinator that will th

[ speaking non-english ] that poor little child. numerous aftershocks have rattled the region, many people too scared to stay inside their homes, understandably so. they ve been forced to sleep on the streets in freezing temperatu
there have been reports of multiple powerful aftershocks in the region. let s speak to rupert wingfield hayes, our correspondent in taipei. tell us more. i can tell you even here in taipei this morning when the quake struck i was here in my home and it was very, very violent. the whole building suede and things were knocked off shelves. furniture knocked off shelves. furniture knocked over full i knocked off shelves. furniture knocked overfull i had knocked off shelves. furniture knocked over full i had to hang onto my countertop for stability, that is how much it was shaking. here in taipei which is over 150 kilometres from the epicentre. you can imagine closer in the city of hualien the shaking was much more violent than that and has done more damage there than it has here. we have seen pictures of at least two larger buildings partially collapsed, leaning over a precarious angles but i have to say that given the strength of the shaking and intensity of the shaking and inte
