After a tough year in 2020 and a number of fundraisers being affected, Rotorua Community Hospice is excited for 2021 and thanks the community for its ongoing support.
Rotorua Community Hospice chief executive Jonathon Hagger says in late 2020 the local hospice had a significant amount of change across the organisation with some staff members moving on to take up new employment opportunities. We are excited for 2021 as we have recruited excellent staff who bring skills to enhance the work Hospice does.
Mia Jones, 2, took out first prize in the girls final with an outfit bought entirely from the Hospice Shop in Richmond. Mum, Carla Jones from Fielding, said the outfit cost under $10, dressing the toddler from “head to toe” in a Charleston inspired outfit, complete with bags and hairband. Winner from last year’s Fashion in the Field, Julie Penman came third this year with her Chinese and dragon inspired skirt and top. Penman said she made the outfit from Spotlight material with the dragons on her top prompting her to make a hat topped with toy dragons. She won the Best Hat category.
Food donations needed for local families
Wellsford foodbank Loaves and Fishes still needs donations of non-perishable food for its Christmas hamper parcels for families in need.
Anything is welcome, but particularly canned fruit and vegetables, spaghetti, penne, spiral or macaroni pasta, family bags of biscuits, flour, sugar, crackers, cereal, and so on.
All donations are appreciated and can be dropped until Sunday, December 20 at Mike Pero Wellsford in Rodney Street, Clever Endeavours in Worker Road and the Hospice Shop in the main street.
