LEND a Hand in Horwich’s amazing volunteers give up their time for free to shop, collect prescriptions and organise transport for hospital appointments, exercising dogs and much more. They have also supported the elderly and the homeless organising essential parcels for them and receives referrals from established organisations. The organisation also helps people’s wellbeing through organising baking clubs, knitting clubs, online activities for the community, families and children and now there are plans to set up a wellbeing group. Volunteer Sarah Martin said: “I joined the Lend A Hand Horwich Facebook group in April 2020 as a way of supporting my community during lockdown. I started by volunteering to walk a dog twice a week for a lady, and what an absolute joy that has been.So much so that I’m still doing it and I am looking to get a rescue dog of my own.
