Hortensia Mendez, 75, passed away January 20, 2021, at Hays Medical Center. She was born May 29, 1945, at Tamaulipas, Mexico, to Valentin & Nieves (Perez) Morado. She married Manuel Mendez in 1973 at Tamaulipas, Mexico.
Coming from Homestead, Florida in 2007, Hortensia was a Great Bend resident. She was a homemaker and especially loved spending time with her family.
Survivors include, her husband Manuel Mendez of the home; two sons, Juan M. Mendez and Jorge V. Mendez; a daughter, Maria D. Martinez; six grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; and many brothers and sisters.
Visitation will be held from 1:00 to 9:00 p.m., Sunday, January 24, 2021 at Bryant Funeral Home, with family to receive friends from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Funeral Service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Monday, January 25, 2021, at Bryant Funeral Home, with Cesar Regalado pres
