The Animal Welfare (Livestock Exports) Bill will ban live animal exports of horses and others, including cattle, sheep, and pigs, for slaughter and fattening from Great Britain.
“We still have a significant opportunity to keep the pressure on the UK Government to tackle this trade – much of which happens ‘below the radar’ – so that the voices of these suffering animals are not silenced.”
In a currently unregulated industry, more than half of yard owners surveyed said they would be supportive of licensing of livery yards and similar equestrian establishments.
