Levin, Shannon And Tokomaru Water Supply At Critical Levels

Monday, 28 June 2021, 12:21 pm Residents of Levin, Shannon and Tokomaru are being urged to reduce or stop using water immediately. Due to the most recent rainfall event, the water treatment plants located in Levin, Shannon and Tokomaru are struggling to effectively treat the muddy river water for our drinking water supplies. The community demand e.g. residents and businesses connected to the town water supplies are exceeding what the treatment plant can deliver. There is a real risk that the water supply will run-out and the community will need to rely on bottled water or water tank supplies to service their minimum requirements.

Te Pūtahitanga – Queen Street Cultural Installation

Friday, 7 May 2021, 5:50 am On the morning of Thursday 29 April, Muaūpoko whānau, alongside Council kaimahi/staff gathered to unveil the cultural installation – Te Pūtahitanga located on Oxford Street, Levin. Muaūpoko artist, Sian Montgomery-Neutze said, “The name of this installation is Te Pūtahitanga, which loosely translates to the meeting place/junction. The pattern used on each panel is Waharua, a pattern often seen on kākahu and other forms of weaving. It is also seen on the kaitaka of Muaūpoko Ancestor Te Rangihiwinui.” Miss Montgomery-Neutze said, “There are several interpretations of this particular design throughout Aotearoa. In the context of this installation, it is used to represent ‘the meeting place between two things’. This is a common interpretation, and has been used here to reflect the environment within which it is situated.

Horowhenua District Council Urges Government To Commit To The Completion Of Ōtaki To North Of Levin (Ō2NL) Expressway
