Steuben County ends 2020 with nearly 3,500 total COVID-19 cases, 139 deaths
Health Director: December was most deadly related to COVID in Steuben County since the pandemic began

BATH Steuben County ended 2020 with 3,493 confirmed cases of COVID-19, 619 of them currently active, in the Public Health Department s final statistical report of the year.
The Public Health Department also reported the death of an individual who had previously tested positive for COVID-19, a male resident of the Village of Arkport who died while hospitalized at the age of 81. The total number of COVID-19 related deaths in Steuben County reached 139.
“Sadly, the month of December proved to be the most deadly related to COVID in Steuben County since the pandemic began,” said Public Health Director Darlene Smith. “We have been distressed to see the death toll of December top our experience in April when the virus first began surging.
