Lawyers for David Latimer, 61, filed statements of defence at the Ontario Superior Court of Justice in Bracebridge, Ont., in October, saying he treated both plaintiffs like any other student.
The lawsuit alleges the director used his position to build trust with the plaintiff, who was between seven and 10 years old at the time, according to the statement of claim.
In a letter addressed to the parents of an affected student on Friday, the board expressed its concern over the situation. “We extend a sincere apology to the students and families who were affected.”
