Respect to Ms. Gamache, the principle of Horace Mitchell Primary School in Kittery, for honoring a very unique bet one of her first grade teachers made with her students at the beginning of the school year.
KITTERY, Maine Less than three weeks away from its scheduled installation, Horace Mitchell Primary School’s Project Playground initiative is seeking a final infusion of donations to cover remaining project costs.
Replacing the school’s current playground, which is around two decades old, according to school Principal Allison Gamache, costs roughly $225,000.
The playground will feature monkey bars, a zipline, an updated swing set and numerous climbing structures and more. Gamache said that, through prior consultation with an occupational therapist, handicap accessible surfacing is a primary focus of the installation for students with physical disabilities, as well as those from the community using the playground who have accessibility challenges.
