The Bemidji 31 Education Foundation Fund recently announced its fall 2022 grant award recipients following a competitive application and review process, 13 out of 22 applicants were selected to receive almost $10,000 for various projects throughout the Bemidji Area School District.
Born in 1916 in Minneapolis, Horace May played baseball for Minneapolis North High School, then played for the Minnesota Gophers. May moved to Bemidji after World War II to teach physical education and coach Lumberjacks baseball.
A longtime superintendent, a baseball coach and a school board member inspired the names of three elementary schools in the Bemidji Area School District.
