Gino Piroli: Remembering FDR, former Aliquippa standout athlete

The time since I last wrote a column has been one of consistent boredom and repetitious routines. That is due, of course, to this coronavirus pandemic that has made such a horrible impact on our way of life.
Fortunately, my entire family has been vaccinated and we were able to gather for a traditional Easter dinner. One constant in all of these dire events is the death, some from the virus, of so many of my friends and relatives that seem to occupy the obituary pages each week.
Those I will address, but what I wish to highlight is that today is the 76th anniversary of the death on April 12, 1945, of our 32nd president, Franklin Delano Roosevelt. Those of us on military duty were shocked and dismayed to hear of his passing.
