2 Min Read Published on: 03-04-2021 The president and the first lady of Kiribati are participating in the Seventh-day Adventist Church’s Complete Health Improvement Program (CHIP) after tuning in to the local Hope Radio station, according to reports from that South Pacific island nation.  President Taneti Maamau and his wife, Teiraeng regular Hope Radio listeners are taking part in CHIP after listening to the station’s health messages. And they are already experiencing the benefits of the lifestyle intervention program. “It seems that they want to continue as they have seen very positive results,” Hope Radio announcer Tarataake Angiraoi said. “We praise the Lord for this great news.”

Hope Radio returns to Birmingham with COVID-19 RSL Hope Radio 87.9fm has returned with a temporary COVID-19 service on FM to help the people of South Birmingham. The station is run mostly by volunteers and launched on 12th February to help “Spread the truth not the virus” by encouraging their listeners to get vaccinated. During the first lockdown a group of creatives from Brum Community Media operated the service from May to September with funding from Selly Oak Neighbourhood Network Service and The Heart of England Foundation Trust. Together they produce radio programmes for the over 50s who do not have or do not desire to have access to the Internet, to share experiences, to send messages to friends and family, to show their support for essential workers, to feel that they are not alone and most importantly local and national Covid 19 public health messaging.

Hong Kong Media Tycoon Jimmy Lai Resigns as Chairman of Next Digital Jimmy Lai, the founder of Next Digital, has resigned as the chairman of the company while he faces multiple charges. He was recently prosecuted under the new national security law imposed by the Chinese regime on Hong Kong. Experts fear that Lai could be extradited to mainland China for trial and they call on the Hong Kong government to exercise judicial independence from Beijing. Next Digital, founded in 1995 and previously known as Next Media, released a statement to the Hong Kong stock exchange on Dec. 29, saying Lai has stepped down from his positions as chairman and executive director “in order to spend more time dealing with his personal affairs.”
