Welcome back
Suzanne Crouch and Elaine Bedel
Between our state forests, state parks, communities with unique stories, and many more sites and events, Indiana has so much to offer visitors. It is important to showcase all our state s amenities by shining a light on the impact of the hospitality and leisure industry.
This sector of our economy is huge for the state, with state tourism setting a record $13.7 billion in visitor spending in 2019. While the industry was hit hard in 2020, much like Hoosiers, this is an industry that is resilient and ready to make our state a destination for visitors once again.

CINCINNATI â When Charles Edwards got the opportunity to retire early, he could have moved to the beautiful South Carolina coast, where he lived as a boy, or the North Carolina Piedmont region, where he spent his high school years.
But he chose to remain in Indiana, where he moved begrudgingly with his family just before he started college.
A new marketing campaign aims to persuade more people to move to Indiana.Â
The Indiana Destination Development Corp. and the Indiana Association of Realtors launched the Hoosiers By Choice advertising campaign that features short videos of people explaining why they moved to Indiana and chose to stay.
The campaign that aims to showcase the Hoosier State s quality of life and special allure will run through 2021. It will feature testimonials from people who moved to all parts of the state.
âWe are extremely proud to launch a campaign that will clearly demonstrate Indianaâs strong quality of life and show what makes living in Indiana so special,â Lt. Gov. Suzanne Crouch said. âThe website will not only serve as the main hub for our Hoosiers By Choice stories, but also as a great resource for people considering moving to Indiana.â

State officials are turning to some of Indiana s newest residents to sing the Hoosier State s praises.
Hoosiers By Choice, an online promotion, asks residents who grew up elsewhere to record videos of themselves talking about why they moved to Indiana and what they love about the state.
The goal is to attract tourists, college students, job candidates and aspiring entrepreneurs to visit Indiana in hopes they will move here.
The Indiana Destination Development Corp. became a quasi-government agency in July 2020.
“We talked about how we have such good things going on here,” Lt. Gov. Suzanne Crouch said during a Zoom interview. “We don t do a very good job of telling our story. I say we are humble Hoosiers.”
