TROY – A Rensselaer County resident has died from COVID-19 and 103 new positive cases were reported Saturday, the county Health Department confirmed.
An 82-year-old man who was a resident at the Eddy Heritage House in Troy died, bringing the county death toll to 72 since the coronavirus pandemic began, officials said.

BENNINGTON â With Thursdayâs massive norâeaster came the usual cascade of school cancellations that the Northeast sees every year.
But this year, with remote learning a staple because of the coronavirus, some schools decided to take advantage of the technology.
Some school districts, like the Southwest Vermont Supervisory Union and the Hoosick Falls Central School district, pivoted to remote learning. Others, including Arlington, Cambridge, Burr and Burton Academy and Sacred Heart, gave students and staff the traditional snow day.
In a post on the schoolâs Facebook page, Hoosick Falls superintendent Patrick Dailey said that the decision to switch to remote learning was not made lightly.
