It is friday night, and a big story on action news tonight is a slow move away from days of dreary and rainy weather, it is not happening, without a last shot from Mother Nature. We are ending up, with over an inch of rain, in the philadelphia area, but there is hope, for a much nicer day for mothers day on sunday. Lets get right to meteorologist cecily tynan at the big board, cecily. Jim, it business time. What a flip flop over the past 20 days, first ten days of that period starting april 17th we have had mega block and we were trapped under high pressure. That meant it was warm, temperatures, more than 6 degrees above average and it was dry, only about a third of an inch of rain the flip side, past ten days, temperatures averaging more than 6 degrees below average and we had more rain the past ten days then we have had the entire month of april, more than 2 inches and it is still raining in parts of our region. Double scan live is showing you look at this spin, low pressure is sitti
Showers moved off shore and now scattered showers in delaware and they are starting to taper off, as well. So, fog to start with. 64 degrees at 7 00. And then breaks in the clouds at 9 00 and, yes, well see more sunshine at noontime. 70 degrees. I know jillian has been spotting some of that fog on the traffic cameras. Seeing it out there right now, jillian . Dense fog in portions of the lehigh valley. Live look at route 22 right at mcarthur road. Right at a light pole and that thick fog out there is what were talking about and thats what bill was mentioning that dense fog in portions of the area. Use caution. Much different scene, though, closer to center city, philadelphia. Average speeds there about 55 miles. So no slow downs to report on 95. 55 is what were seeing on 76 and the blue route and 422, 65 is the average speed right now on the pennsylvania turnpike. Tracy . Jillian, thanks. So they asked me when i came your what were my prerequisites for writing the book. Its got to be simply place am going to write it, it takes 15 years, ive had books take that long, im going to finish but the other one, there can be another book. They cant be another book under the subject. I like a subject thats never been touched or you have the challenge of going back and digging and digging and bringing this to life. And the rule i have is lets say tom sawyer our mark twain came back today, they would say how do you know that . Thats my biggest joy. It is 10 00 in newtown, connecticut, a Community Still struggling with grief and still reaching out to one another for comfort and beginning the long process of saying goodbye to so many young lives, lives cut far too short. Makeshift memorials remind the people of this community they are not alone in their grief and people stop by to leave candles and flowers and teddy bears and notes of comfort. It is a daunting concept, the idea of trying somehow to move on without the 26 six and 7yearolds that lost their lives friday and trying to move on without the six adults also killed at sandy hook elementary. Moving on may not be possible for a very long time if ever. It is not clear just when the students of sandy hook will return to class but when they do, it will be in a different building, a different school, in a neighboring town. Everything is different now. Everything. For the families here this week is about trying to find a way to say goodbye and to honor the lives of their children,
