There were fewer runners coming from Japan for the Honolulu Marathon than previous years. But there is a big percent increase in runners from the mainland, making up the difference.
Shifera Tamru (5th in Chicago) and Asefa Mengstu (2:04:06 PB) lead the men's race, while Bere Ayalew (2:22:52) and Abebech Afework (2:23:33) lead the women.
