Hong Kong’s FRC enhances collaboration with the SFC

Hong Kong’s Financial Reporting Council (FRC) has signed an MoU with the Securities and Futures Commission (SFC) to strengthen the regulation of capital markets through collaboration between the two regulators.
Under the MoU, which took effect yesterday (24 February), the FRC and SFC agreed to develop a closer collaboration in the regulation of the securities and futures market, particularly in relation to the regulation under their respective supervisory regimes of listed entity auditors and compliance by listed entities with financial reporting requirements.

Hong Kong’s Financial Reporting Council (FRC) has appointed Florence Wong as its deputy CEO. Wong currently serves at the FRC as an executive director and head of oversight, policy and governance.
Wong previously served as a member of the Financial Reporting Standards Committee of the Hong Kong Institute of Certified Public Accountants.
FRC CEO Marek Grabowski said: Florence has rich experience in supporting the then CEOs and Chairman in driving the FRC reform and subsequently, before my arrival, as Acting CEO in establishing the organization, resourcing, policies and procedures of the FRC under the new auditor regulatory regime. I am delighted to have her strategy and administration support in moving the FRC forward.”
