Ember Amador, California Heritage Indigenous Research Project

Ember Amador, California Heritage Indigenous Research Project April 21, 2021 Host Taylor Wolfe introduces us to Ember Amador, who is passionate about understanding the history and culture in the Yuba/Bear watershed before the population explosion of the gold rush. Her experience with a nonprofit organization, Honey Root, focused on somatic education and led to a role doing event planning for workshops. Ember met Shelley Covert, the spokespserson for the local Nisenan people and Executive Director of California Heritage Indigenous Research Project (CHIRP) at a workshop on social justice in 2017, which sparked a deep interest in the people who have always been here. She assists CHIRP with community outreach and administrative support and enjoys living in an intentional community with close ties to others and the land. She invites the public to learn more at nisenan.org.
