Komatsu Mining Corp. s new headquarters in Milwaukee s Harbor District will see its first office employees arrive this fall.
That s according to an update of the $285 million corporate campus development presented Tuesday to the Common Council s Zoning, Neighborhoods and Development Committee.
The three-story office building, overlooking the inner harbor at the end of East Greenfield Avenue, is now fully enclosed, said Matthew Beaudry, Komatsu Mining project director and general manager.
Work is proceeding on the office building s interior build-out, he told committee members.
The office building connects to a two-story lab and two-story training building and museum, with all three structures totaling 176,000 square feet,

It’s no secret that construction costs are growing quickly.
The soaring price of lumber, now at an all-time high, has made national news. According to the National Association of Home Builders, the increasing price of lumber has added $24,000 to the cost of building a new home.
But it’s not the only material price that is climbing. Since the start of 2019, copper pipe costs are up 45% and PVC pipe 27% according to Mortenson Construction.
