Around the midway mark of November 2020, Honda South Africa expanded its product portfolio with the introduction of the new WR-V. The compact SUV compliments Honda s existing high-riding product portfolio, consisting of the BR-V, CR-V, and HR-V.
Pricewise, the WR-V slots in between the BR-V (from R285 400) and HR-V (from R415 400) and is powered by one solitary engine. The 1.2-litre motor produces 66kW and 100Nm, with Honda claiming that its new vehicle will average around 6.4-litres/100km. That s not too bad, considering that prospective owners will cover about 625km on its 40L fuel tank.
Power is channelled to the front wheels via a five-speed manual gearbox, but the SUV s engine must be stirred before peak power is achieved. Honda says that maximum power and torque are available at 6000rpm and 4800rpm, respectively, which is understandable given that the engine is naturally aspirated.
