Pop-Up COVID-19 Testing at Muskingum County Fairgrounds

Pop-Up COVID-19 Testing at Muskingum County Fairgrounds ZANESVILLE, OH – A Pop-Up COVID-19 Testing Site was at the Muskingum County Fairgrounds today. They opened up at 9:30 this morning and ran until 3:30 in the afternoon. The Joint Unified Command is in charge of the organization locally and they partnered with the Ohio National Guard for the swabbing. Health Commissioner Corey Hamilton shares why they decided to host a pop-up testing site. “We were seeing a really high volume of testing running through Genesis First Care, and the Emergency Department, Hometown Urgent Care, Shrivers Pharmacy, our testing sites here in the county. And it seemed like people were desiring to be tested more frequently and so we brought this event in to take some of the strain off of those testing sites.”

Ashland comes off purple watchlist, Wayne & Holmes remain red

ASHLAND The Ohio Public Health Advisory System dropped Ashland County from its Level 4 watch list on Thursday. The county went on the watch list last week after it met six of the seven indicators for at least one week. If a county meets six of the seven indicators for two consecutive weeks, it has reached a Level 4 public emergency and colored purple on the map. Currently, Ashland County is meeting five of the seven indicators including an 80% capacity of ICU beds in its hospitals. At least 20% of those beds are filled with COVID-19 patients. It no longer meets the indicator showing a sustained increase in emergency department visits over five days, which put it on the watch list last week.
