Washington Avenue is closed between Front Street and Holmes Street, first due to setup for the city's Street Faire and then for utility improvements for the new brewery.
The blocks will be collected through the end of May and then woven into throw quilts. Hometown Crafts employee Linnea Gray hopes the community can send at least four or five quilts.
The sale closed in January after owner Cindy McCullough retired following 15 years of establishing the store as a crafting destination. Dawn Lundgren said she is enjoying this “fun” and “new adventure” while continuing to run Fresh Freeze as she has for 22 years.
Hometown Crafts and Fabrics draws people as a crafting destination and for the hub of friendships. The tradition will continue with Dawn Lundgren of Fresh Freeze, who is the new owner as of January.
