QUINCY For Eileen Kerin, being bald was a first, but she was just one of many who had their heads shaved in solidarity with Quinn Waters, 5, of Weymouth.
Kerin, of Hyde Park, said she secured more than $3,000 in donations from various friends for a fundraiser for The Mighty Quinn on Sunday. But it all hinged on getting her head shaved.
Kerin was not alone as a row of six barbers waited for Quincy and Weymouth police officers, children, men and women to shave it all off at Quincy s Pageant Field. I was fine about it, Kerin said. Then on the drive here, my wife kept asking me if I was nervous. But it s just hair. It will grow back, although I guess I need to wear sunscreen on my head now, or start wearing hats.
