Need to get tested or vaccinated for COVID? There are changes, but you have options Michelle Marchante, Miami Herald
Some people are looking to get tested in South Florida, either because they were exposed to the virus or because they’re planning to travel. Others are trying to get a vaccine.
But things have changed.
All state-run testing and vaccine sites are closed, including the popular site at Hard Rock Stadium in Miami Gardens. County-run sites are still open. Select pharmacies, hospitals, clinics, urgent care centers and doctors’ offices are also offering testing or vaccinations.
As a reminder, Pfizer’s vaccine is for people 12 and older. Moderna and Johnson & Johnson’s vaccine is for people 18 and older.

More than 200 universities are requiring their students – and in some instances, faculty and staff – to be vaccinated against COVID-19 for the fall semester.
Although the University of Miami has not yet announced if it will follow suit, UM President Julio Frenk said by the end of May that UM will provide more guidance about “a safe return in the fall.”
In an April 30 message to the campus community, Frenk stressed the importance and value of vaccinations.

If you are living in Florida and are 18 and older, you are eligible to receive the COVID-19 vaccine. We know that getting vaccinated isn’t the only solution for a post-COVID world as our reality is much more nuanced than that. But it’s the right step. We won’t ever get out of the throes of this worldly pandemic if we don’t all get vaccinated and move towards a state of herd immunity.
