Moncton council has voted to sell downtown property for an undisclosed amount to a developer pitching a mixed-use building with 10 per cent of the residential units described as affordable housing.

Among those being honoured this year are Jane Burchill of Saint John, along with Hampton High School.
Burchill received the Rising Star Award, which recognizes a person under 30 who has shown outstanding commitment to energy efficiency and conservation.
According to the utility, Burchill played a key role to increase energy literacy levels and empowered students to take action on climate change in her previous role with the Gaia Project.
