Though less than 2 percent of Georgetown students are from D.C., all are impacted by the laws made by the city’s elected officials. In the absence of congressional representation, D.C. residents’ primary democratic power rests in their ability to elect a mayor.Residents have the chance to cast a ballot in the biennial general election for the mayor and municipal positions.
